A contraindication is a condition or factor that can deem a patient not suitable for a particular treatment. There can be many contraindications to a treatment. In order to ensure you are a suitable candidate for treatment, you must complete our medical history form in our office. If in review of your medical history we find that you are not a suitable candidate, we may require that you obtain a medical clearance from your doctor or we may recommend another treatment route. You may also advise the front desk of any medical conditions at the time of scheduling to find out if you may not be a candidate.

All children under the age of 14 are not permitted in the treatment rooms. Also, eye protection must be worn by all persons in the treatment room during all Laser and Light based treatments. We are not responsible for any unattended children.

Please read all the information provided on our website about the particular treatment(s) you would like to receive, this way you may get some idea of what to expect, and how to prepare. You will also receive e-forms prior to your appointment that will also include any pretreatment instructions. i.e. The treatment area must be clean shaven before Laser Hair Removal treatment. Please shave the area within two days before your appointment. If you arrive unshaved, a $25 shaving fee will be incurred.

All packages and treatment sessions will expire if inactive for over 6 months. Any unused credit or gift cards will expire after one year from date of purchase/ issuance. Please contact us if you need to freeze your package for any medical reasons i.e. pregnancy. Packages/ treatments sessions are non transferable.

Industry standard for gratuity is typically 15% - 20% based on the quality of service received. Gratuity is accepted by cash or Venmo. Tip envelopes and Venmo QR codes are available at the front desk for your convenience. Gratuities are not included in your service price, and are greatly appreciated.

When booking services at Bare Skin and Laser, your appointment is scheduled with a therapist, whose time is allocated exclusively for your scheduled treatment. If you are late for a scheduled appointment, our company policy offers you two options: You may opt to shorten your treatment. You may prefer to reschedule your appointment at a more convenient time, however, a rescheduling fee will be incurred.

Physicians, Physician Assistants, or Nurse Practitioners providing services in our facility on an appointment only basis are independent contractors and payment will be rendered directly to the Physician, PA, or NP. Any questions or concerns must be handled by the Physician, PA, or NP directly. Bare Skin and Laser holds no responsibility for any procedures performed by the Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.

The length of the session depends on the size of the area. Typically, a treatment can take as little as 10 minutes for a small area or up to an hour or more for a larger area such as the back or legs.

Laser Hair Removal is very tolerable. The hand piece cools and soothes as it is pressed against the skin. When the light pulse is delivered, some patients describe a warm, mild pinching, or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required. Our Palomar system uses advanced cooling technology making it the least painful of all systems.

Immediately after your treatment, you may return to your normal activities. The area may appear slightly red and swollen. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas that may be exposed to the sun. Avoid direct sun exposure to the area for a week after treatment. Seven to ten days after your treatment, the treated hair will begin to shed. Hairs that were not actively growing during the treatment may continue to grow, but it is permissible to shave. The treated hair will not grow for the next few weeks until you are ready for your next treatment.

Hair grows in three cycles: Anagen (active), Catagen (regression), and Telogen (resting). Since the laser targets the hairs in the Anagen phase , and only a small percentage of hair are in this phase at any given time, several treatments are required. Most areas require 6-10 treatments for a 80-90% reduction or higher. Maintenance treatments may be required.

Laser Hair Removal is extremely safe. Although few side effects are experienced, some may notice a slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similiar to a sun burn. These effects may last up to several hours. In rare instances, blistering can occur.

Lasers safely remove unwanted facial and body hair by selectively targeting melanin (pigment) inside the hair follicle. A beam of light is emitted, which passes through the skin down into the hair to the root of the follicle. The light energy is converted to heat energy, damaging the follicle.

Technically, no. No Laser or IPL Hair Removal device has ever been proven or FDA approved to permanently eliminate ALL hair, forever, for everyone. This does not mean that it is impossible to achieve permanent hair removal. However, Laser Hair Removal can (and is FDA approved to) permanently reduce hair growth. All areas of the body can be treated!

Since the laser targets pigment in the hair, the best candidate for Laser Hair Removal would have dark hair and light skin. However, it is still extremely effective on all skin and most hair types except for white or gray hair, blonde (peach fuzz), and red hair.

Before your treatment, it is very important that the area to be treated has not been directly exposed to the sun or tanning booths for at least two weeks. Sunless tanning should be avoided for at least one week before a treatment. We recommend that you shave the area one to two days before your appointment. Waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or any other method that removes the root of the hair must also be discontinued at least four weeks prior to treatment. The hair must be present in the follicle for the treatment to be effective. You cannot receive a treatment if you are taking antibiotics, Accutane, or using Retin-A or other topical acne creams (only if in area being treated), have any auto immune diseases or are pregnant or actively trying.
